Who is Tali Lopez?

Bio

Tali Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York on June 4th, 1975 and raised in San Diego. He is a self-taught artist. “I Like to think that I’ve always had an eye for beautiful things, but who knew that painting would become my lifes passion”. Tali’s work tends to be very emotional and suggestive. He uses vibrant colors to express the experiences that form his day to day life. Tali often overlaps drawing, painting, text and image into his works, often blurring the lines between abstraction and figuration. “If I had to describe my work, I would say it’s a mix between neo-expressionism , abstract expressionism, abstract and contemporary”. He often harkens back to the days of Basquiat and Warhol , two of his favorites, to draw inspiration from.

His Work

For his pieces Tali utilizes:  acrylics, oils, resin, ink, pencil, markers, crayons,  and other household chemicals. Although he has painted on canvas, he prefers wood panels and primarily uses acrylic paints to create large provocative pieces.

Community Outreach

Whenever possible,Tali donates his works to non-profit organizations to auction off and raise funds for his community.

On February 21, 2020 he proudly donated a piece to a fundraiser benefiting Being Alive, a nonprofit in San Diego that raises money to support people living with HIV and AIDS. Tali is proud to say that this piece was auctioned off and sold to the first lady of San Diego: Katherine Stuart Faulconer. The painting now hangs proudly in her and the Mayor’s home.
